Speedtest.net Got A Facelift!

My favorite internet speed test website ever, speedtest.net, has done it again! Their new design looks similar to their classic look, but they have added a whole bunch of new features. My favorite new feature is the ability to look at statistics on how certain areas test up and which ISP's are the fastest. Wicked cool huh?

Top 25 colleges handing out piracy notices

Wow, so I'm still not worried about getting "caught" for downloading the tv shows we pay for (somewhere around 14.7GB a month), but I thought it was interesting to see that our sister college, UMass Amherst is number 6 on the list of most copyright infringement notices passed out during this school year so far. The iPhone Features That Weren't Released

Like the beautiful look of the iPhone, maybe you desperately want one and can't wait till they are released in June? Either way, here's a video that covers a few features that make the iPhone even more awesome (except for the pay for ringtones part, which I doubt will happen, even though it does make sense).

Helpful Hack: Bit Torrent

You are one of two people: you either know what bit torrent is and probably have used it, or you are someone who doesn't know what it is at all. Well, this edition of Helpful Hacks will be a great deal of help if you want to know how to get music, videos, games, programs, and movies that the RIAA, MPAA, and pretty much any corporate level company doesn't want you to get for free.

Undermount and save space!

Those of you who know me, know I like making things work well and efficient. One way of adding efficiency into your computing world is to organize all those wild cables behind your computer. Why not organize them, say under your desk and save a lot of space, not to mention make your desk look great too. Sound weird or maybe cool? Check it out at this guy's website that has a full how-to.

VirtueDesktops

I was in my Physics II lecture yesterday and I saw a guy with his MacBook who was apparently just as bored as I was because he was just surfing the web and checking his email. I noticed that he was switching between windows very much like how some Linux distro's use glx to manipulate the window server. Confused? Okay: VirtueDesktops is a FREE program that lets you have many virtual desktops that can be used for extra desktop space and is a functionality that Apple's new OS update Leopard will have built in, Apple calls it Spaces.

Tips, Hints, and Cool Gadgets!

As you can see today I finally got around to updating my site again! New OS X Tips, Helpful Hack, and a brief iPhone rundown.

iPhone!

Finally Apple is coming to the rescue! Hopefully they will grace the wireless world with the same wonders that they delivered to the personal audio world, not to mention to personal computing world. Introducing the Apple iPhone: the device that takes the already world renowned groundbreaking iPod and adds functionality that the wireless community has never even dreamed of.

iPhone

This little guy can fit in the palm of your hand, and yet it has the capability to surf the web, send and receive email on the go, listen to your favorite tunes, keep all your appointments, and of course... the best phone functionality, all with the most of ease that you've come to expect from Apple.

So here are the gritty details: 2 models, a 4GB model that's starting at $499 and an 8 GB model starting at $599. Both models have identical specs other than internal storage. As of right now the launch date is set for June for Cingular customers only. Rumors are all over the place though saying that we might see it in stores as early as late April, and nobody knows if Apple will support the rest of the wireless providers sometime next year or not.
